Grab a coffee and walk or bike the 15-mile Chattahoochee Riverwalk. The stretch through Uptown at sunrise is the best free show in town.
Book a whitewater rafting run through downtown, zipline across the river to Alabama, or rent a paddleboard for the flat-water sections.
The National Infantry Museum (free), the Columbus Museum, and the National Civil War Naval Museum make Columbus an easy town to love indoors, too.
Providence Canyon, "Georgia's Little Grand Canyon", Callaway Gardens, and FDR's Little White House at Warm Springs are all within about an hour's drive.
Columbus is easy: 20 minutes from Columbus Airport (CSG), ~90 minutes from Atlanta's airport, mild winters, hot summers, and free parking almost everywhere.
